I am a Licensed Professional Counselor currently seeing couples and individual clients. I completed my Master’s degree in 2006, getting a M.A. in Clinical/Counseling psychology at La Salle University in Philadelphia.
During my years of experience, I have worked in a variety of settings – crisis intervention, community mental health, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and inpatient. Within these settings, I have seen clients as individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have completed externships in both Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and in Pragmatic/Experiential Therapy for Couples with Dr. Brent Atkinson (www.thecouplesclinic.com). In addition, I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training for Relational Life Therapy.
I am married to a loving man, with three great kids. After many years of marriage, I know first hand how hard it can be, and when you add kids, it gets harder. Being a counselor has helped me to successfully navigate the very difficult waters of marriage and children, and it is my desire to pass this knowledge on to you.
My Style.
During the course of therapy, I am likely to draw on various psychological approaches according, in part, to the problem that is being treated and my assessment of what will best benefit you. My therapeutic style is pragmatic, active and goal-oriented. The aim of counseling is to reach specific goals for individual and relational growth, which are mutually agreed upon by both the client and the counselor. I believe that my fundamental role as a counselor is to provide you with a safe place to be truly heard, to help you gain insight into yourself, and to teach you new strategies to improve your life.
